1.11.2 Currency
Currency is a medium of exchange for goods and services.
Questions regarding money may be used in many different course sections.
Because these are worldwide tests, a variety of currencies are used.
Some of them are:
US dollars ($ or USD)
Euros (€ or Euros)
Pakistani Rupee (PKR)
Great British Pound (£ or GBP)
Rounding
Many currencies will be rounded to two decimal places
Always write down both decimal places after rounding, even if the second is \( 0 \).
\( $ \ 5.20 \) will be displayed as \( 5.2 \) on calculator’s screen but would be pronounced as ‘\( 5 \) dollars and \( 20 \) cents’
When dealing with huge numbers, it is not required to round to two decimal places.
Because of exchange rates, certain currencies have big numbers. Such numbers are usually rounded to the nearest whole number
Money figures may be reported to more than two decimal places in some cases. e.g., the exchange rate and the cost of gas or electricity
In such cases, use all of the decimal places specified in your calculations and round for your final result.
